Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) Grant: How It Works

The grant is real. £7,500 toward an air source heat pump installation, deducted from your invoice before you pay. Here is exactly what it means for your quote, and how to tell when an installer is inflating prices to absorb it.

£7,500 Grant for Air Source Heat Pumps

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides a £7,500 grant toward the cost of replacing an oil or gas heating system with an air source heat pump. We are a registered BUS installer, which means we apply on your behalf and the grant is settled directly with us, you never handle the money, claim anything back, or wait for reimbursement.

If you are replacing oil or LPG in an off-gas home, you may qualify for more. Since 21 July 2026 a £1,500 uplift raises the grant to £9,000 for oil and LPG homes moving to an air source heat pump, available until March 2027. Mains gas homes keep the £7,500 grant. We confirm which figure applies to your property before you commit.

Your Quote With BUS Grant Applied Upfront

Your written quote shows three line items. The gross installation cost. The £7,500 BUS grant. The net amount you pay. Because the gross figure is on the face of the document, you can compare it independently against any other MCS-certified installer's pricing, which is precisely the test that catches grant inflation.

How The £7,500 Appears On Your Invoice

The deduction sits on the invoice itself, before payment. We do not adjust our gross pricing in response to grant availability, a claim you can verify, because the gross figure is never hidden.

No Waiting, No Reimbursement Claims

Some homeowners have been told they must pay in full and claim the grant back. Not with a registered installer. The paperwork is submitted by us, on your behalf, in full. You pay the net figure. That is the entire process from your side.

Grant Eligibility & Requirements

We confirm your eligibility during the heat loss survey, before you commit to anything.

  • You are replacing an oil or gas heating system with an air source heat pump.
  • Your property has a valid EPC. Our free estimate tool reads it automatically from your address.
  • The installation is carried out by an MCS-certified installer, which is a legal requirement of the scheme, and the floor we build on, not the ceiling.

Real Costs After BUS Grant Deduction

Most of our completed installations land between £6,500 and £9,500 after the grant, depending on system size, radiator upgrades and hot water cylinder requirements. The free estimate gives you a figure for your property in about two minutes; the heat loss survey turns it into a fixed written quote.
